Martha Stewart, move over! OK, I may not be the next Martha but there’s something about making your own fill in the blank that makes you feel like a domestic diva.   Typical seasoned salt can have ingredients that have no business being in our foods. Additives like MSG, sugar, and preservatives.

By making your own you can be sure that no yucky additives make their way into your food and you can just use whatever combination of spices and dried herbs you have at hand. Here is how I make mine.

Homemade Seasoned Salt Recipe

DIY: Seasoned Salt Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 oz sea salt
  • 2 Tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 Tsp ground cumin
  • 1/2 Tsp paprika
  • 1/2 Tsp rubbed sage
  • 1/2 Tsp ground coriander
  • In a bowl mix all ingredients until evenly combined. Transfer to an airtight container and enjoy!

Other spices and herbs you can use:

  • Celery seed
  • Chili powder
  • Marjoram
  • Thyme
  • Tumeric
  • Pepper
  • Oregano

The combinations are endless! You can add it to flavour any dish, as a rub for meats and fish. My favourite marinate right now is 2 tbs of this seasoned salt, 3 tbs of olive oil, and 1 tsp of vinegar, mix together add chicken and place in the fridge in a covered container at least 30 minutes before grilling, delicious!
